The iconic Darragh O’Conaill is in the studio this week for episode #055 of Paddy Holohan's No Shame Podcast. Darragh is an Irish born Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt & head coach of
East Coast Jiu Jitsu Academy. Darragh spent his youth playing rugby all the way up to senior level before making the switch to BJJ at 19 years of age.

On the first half of the podcast Darragh tells Paddy about transitioning to a different sport, his first mentor Dave Jones, running a Jiu Jitsu Academy in his early 20's, his brief MMA career & breaking away from the Next Generation (MMA orientated BJJ) in order to seek a more like minded affiliation.
Darragh traveled to the US & after training with some of the best including Demian Maia, he joined the Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu affiliation. In the second half of the podcast the conversation surrounds the Ribeiro affiliation, the IBJJF, the Irish Jiu Jitsu scene & how things can be improved in Ireland if the BJJ community works together.
