Senator Lynn Ruane joins Paddy on the couch this week for episode #045 of the No Shame podcast. Lynn, a Tallaght native, is a politician with a rock and roll back story. She spent much of her early teens caught up with petty crime & drug abuse. By age fifteen she had dropped out of school & was pregnant with her first child. After a series of shocking incidents in her personal life, Lynn decided it was time for a change. Inspired by her daughter, she returned to education & began to her journey into politics via Trinity College. Lynn Ruane is a social activist and politician who has served as a member of Seanad Eireann since April 2016. Independent of party affiliation, she is a prominent advocate of numerous progressive causes, including the reform and modernisation of Ireland's drug treatment and counselling infrastructure, universal access to education, women's reproductive rights, and LGBTQ rights. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and has two daughters, the eldest of whom, Jordanne, is a DFCC-award-winning and IFTA-nominated actress.
